Turfway Park selections for Wednesday

Turfway Park’s Mike Battaglia provides daily selections and comments for the Tribune during the live racing meets.

Selections for Wednesday, Dec. 13

RACE 1
NOBLE MASTER comes off of two dead-last efforts at Hawthorne but is a much better horse running on the all-weather surfaces. He could spring the mild upset in the opener. BACK TOGETHERAGAIN drops in class and is the one to beat at this level. SHUTTER SPEED will be running at the end and is a contender.

RACE 2
GIANT RED moves to the barn of Mike Maker and drops in class. He ran well over this track in the past and rates the edge with Lebron picking up the mount. BLAZING SAINT showed big improvement last out, finishing second at Churchill at big odds. A repeat of that performance would make him tough to beat. RIVER KID has been off since May but broke his maiden here and has to be considered.

RACE 3
SECRET TRICK comes off of a decent effort against better at Churchill. She figures to be running at the end in a race with plenty of early speed and rates the edge in a well matched race. ALOHA ROSE has been a model of consistency this year for trainer Doug Ham. She has been off since October but has to be respected. RADIANTRITHYM ran well over this track last out and fits with these.

RACE 4
ROYAL BY NATURE is winless this year but Wes Ward drops him in for a tag for the first time and anything close to his best performance would make him a winner at this level. NEW YORK BOY has a solid race over this track. He moves up in class but can rally from just off the pace and can run well at nice odds. INFINITE MIDNIGHT drops in class and was an impressive winner here back in March.

RACE 5
MOMENT OF TRIUMPH rates the edge in a fairly weak maiden claimer. KIVA GIRL was beaten by the top pick last out but is eligible to improve in just her fourth career race. MYTH OF WEALTH has the speed to be dangerous.

RACE 6
TU SE MANQUES was an easy maiden winner at Ellis and faded late after making a big move against better at Churchill. She looks like a solid bet to win this for Alberta Davies with Murgia picking up the mount. WHITE GOLD is a speedy runner from the barn of Dane Kobiske. She figures to make the lead and is the one to catch. BLAZE STAR needed her last race after a five-month layoff and figures to improve.

RACE 7
WITNESSADREAM has been off for over a year but is in the capable hands of Mike Maker. He ran well in his debut and hooked future stakes winners Uncontested and Untrapped at Keeneland. He has been training steadily at Trackside and figures to be ready tonight. RIVER’S EDGE is another one coming off of a long layoff. Richard Castillo is a lesser known trainer but he has won with two of his four starters this year including a win at Keeneland back in October. LAST SPRING is a contender.

RACE 8
AEROSCOUT comes off of a decent effort against better over this track last out. She drops in class for her return and appears to be in a good spot to pick up her maiden win. SOUR PEACH has the tactical speed to be in contention throughout and should run well for Peggy Pate with DeLeon back aboard. KITTY EXPRESS will be running at the end.
