Supporting Latino Families, allies to hold public meeting tonight on urgent needs related to ICE raids

Supporting Latino Families, in conjunction with its allies, will be holding a public meeting to address the urgent needs of the families affected by last week’s ICE raids in Covington, Florence, Newport and Walton.

The meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. tonight at Holy Spirit Church, 825 Washington Ave., Newport. Parking will be on-street or at the nearby school parking lot.

“Humanity requires that we assist those who are vulnerable. Northern Kentucky’s immigrant community has suffered a sudden change in its ability to meet basic needs,” the organization says in a press release.

“We hope to welcome the press, allies, donors and families who could be of help to our immigrant families. We also welcome affected immigrant families who might need help but have not been contacted.

Families need donations of cash (or gift cards) as well as volunteers who might be able to assist with transportation or child care.

Please come to Holy Spirit Church at 7:30 pm on Thursday night to learn more about the issue, what is needed and how you can help. Allies will be available to answer all your questions.”

Allies:
Cincinnati Interfaith Workers Center (CIWC), Transformations CDC, Northern Kentucky Justice & Peace Committee, Sisters of Divine Providence, Immigrant and Refugee Law Center, Benedictine Sisters of St. Walburg Monastery, Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center (IJPC), Northern Kentucky Chapter of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth (KFTC), Democratic Socialists of America of Metro Cincinnati and Kentucky Women’s Network – Northern Kentucky Branch
