NKU women drop 59-50 decision to Robert Morris in front of crowd of 4,844 at BB&T Arena

Nneka Ezeigbo scored a game-high 16 points to lead two-time defending Northeast Conference champion Robert Morris to 59-50 victory over the Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball team at BB&T Arena on Tuesday.

Robert Morris built a 25-9 lead in the first half and withstood an NKU rally to notch the road win. The Colonials (1-2) limited the Norse to 26.1 percent shooting from the field, including 1-for-17 from 3-point range.

The Colonials owned a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter, but NKU used an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 50-44. Robert Morris iced the win by converting seven free throws in the final 1:37 of the game.

Grayson Rose led NKU (0-4) with a career-high 12 points. Rose also grabbed five rebounds and converted all six of her free throws.

Mikayla Terry added nine points for the Norse, who played in front of a crowd of 4,844 on Victor’s Hoops for Health Day in BB&T Arena. The Norse attacked the basket effectively for most of the game and finished 24-for-38 from the free-throw line.

Samari Mowbray finished with six points, five rebounds and three steals for the Norse.

NKU plays host to Oakland City at 1 p.m. Saturday.
