Senate President Robert Stivers to bring CSG national conference here during his year as chair

Staff report

State Senate President Robert Stivers made a special trip to Northern Kentucky recently to meet with an invitation-only group of civic leaders to announce that the 2018 National Conference of the Council of State Governments (CSG) will be held here.

The national conference will be December 6-8, 2018, and will bring over 1500 government officials from across the country to the region.

Stivers will become chair of the national group in December when the national conference this year is held in Las Vegas.

Kentucky will be hosting the kickoff reception there on Dec. 16 and celebrating Stivers’ chairmanship.

The event, “Come Fly With Me,” is a nod to Northern Kentucky’s renown as a logistical and cultural hub.

Nationally headquartered in Lexington, CSG is the nation’s only organization serving all three branches of state government throughout the U.S., Canada and the U.S. territories.

Stivers was effusive in his praise of Northern Kentucky as the ideal place to host the national conference, citing the airport, the riverfront and all its amenities, accommodations and regional attractions.

Stivers invited local support for the kick-off event in Las Vegas and said he hopes to have a big crowd from Kentucky there.

Information about sponsorships for the nonprofit’s event is available from Maggie Nick, director of development, at mmick@csg.org or 859.244.8113.
