Gov. Bevin appoints Brighton Center’s Weidinger to Kentucky Housing Corporation board of directors

Tammy Weidinger, president and CEO of Brighton Center, was among those appointed to the Kentucky Housing Corporation Board of Directors, Tuesday by Gov. Matt Bevin.

Weidinger’s 34-year history with Brighton Center began with front line work with individuals and families and led to her current position, responsible for leadership of Bright Center programs.

She has also served on the boards of Every Child Succeeds and the Northern Kentucky Regional mental Health Community Corrections Board, and she currently is a board member for the Northern Kentucky Education Council and the Newport Business Association.

Weidinger, of Fort Thomas, will represent the interests of nonprofit housing organizations and serve for a term expiring Oct. 30, 2020.

Also appointed to the board of directors were:

  • Joanna Shake, of Owensboro, community and economic development director for the Green River Area Development District. She will represent the interests of local government and serve for a term expiring Oct. 30, 2020.
  • Lisa Mann, of Russell Springs, executive director for Lake Cumberland Housing Agency, Inc. She will represent the interests of the homeless and serve for a term expiring Oct. 30, 2020.

The Kentucky Housing Corporation, the state housing finance agency, was created by the General Assembly to provide affordable housing opportunities. As a self-supporting, public corporation, Kentucky Housing offers lower-than-market rate home mortgages, housing production financing, home ownership education/counseling, rental assistance, housing rehabilitation and supportive housing programs for special needs populations.
