Former state senator Richard L. Roeding, 86, died Friday night. He lived in Lakeside Park.
He was born November 28, 1930.

He was a member of the Kentucky State Senate from the 11th district, from 1991 to 2009 and was President Pro Tem in 2000. He was a member of the Republican party.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy.
Arrangements have not yet been announced.
He was a registered pharmacist. He was a graduate of Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati, BS. His other involvements included: U.S. Army.. Ky Pharmacists Assoc, past Director. Northern KY Pharmacists Assoc., Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home, Covington/Kenton Co Lions Club., Ft. Mitchell Board of Adjustment. Northern Ky Chamber of Commerce, National Assoc. of Retail Druggists. Covington Catholic School Board, past President; Blessed Sacrament, Villa Madonna Booster Club, founding Member/past President; ALEC, State Chair 1991-1999. Named National Legislator of the year by the National Republican Legislature Assoc., Legislative award from the American Pharmacy Services Corp., and KY League of Cities Legislative award.

“Elaine and I were saddened to hear about the passing of our dear friend, Senator Dick Roeding. He was a respected legislator and one the great leaders of our party. I join the people of Kentucky in honoring Dick, and he will be missed. Elaine and I send our condolences and prayers to his wife, Nancy, and his family in their time of loss.”

Williams, former state senator and now Circuit Judge, said, “Senator Roeding was an honorable and decent man who had a strong moral compass which guided him in his long service to the Commonwealth. His devotion to his wife Nancy and his family was only surpassed by his strong Christian commitment. Rest in peace good and faithful servant.”
