Emergency Shelter of NKY to host open house on October 12; check out donations needed

The Emergency Shelter of Northern Kentucky (ESNKY) will host its annual open house on Thursday, Oct. 12, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the shelter.

This event is an opportunity to showcase the cold-weather shelter to family, friends, and neighbors and introduce them to the organization’s life-saving and life-changing mission.

The shelter is located at 634 Scott Street in Covington. There will be parking in the lot next door.

“I’m particularly excited about this year’s open house because the community will have the chance to meet Brittney Kane, our new Operations Manager, ” said Kim Webb, executive director of ESNKY. “This is always such a great night for us because we get to show our neighbors, supporters, and others the significant work we are doing in the community.”

ESNKY will collect donations during the open house. The shelter has a particular need for the following items: powdered creamer, sugar, paper plates, plastic spoons, deodorant, disposable razors, lightweight blankets, white tube socks, bread, jelly, backpacks, washcloths, and towels.

ESNKY relies on these donations to carry out its mission of providing clients with a safe, clean, and comfortable space.

Last winter, ESNKY provided 650 individuals with at least one night of emergency sheltering, providing more than 11,000 nights of safe shelter.

ESNKY continues to serve as the only homeless shelter in Northern Kentucky region that accepts actively addicted and/or handicapped individuals.

Moreover, ESNKY partners with local hospitals, jails, and police to accept direct referrals and provide emergency sheltering to those most in need. The ESNKY facility is a first-come, first-serve shelter that accepts adult men or women over the age of 18 with a KY ID.

How in the hell is anyone supposed to come to this “open house” when the article doesn’t indicate where it will be?

No need for profanity, we can hear you better without it. The event is at the Emergency Cold Shelter. And that address would be 634 Scott Street, Covington 41012. Parking available in the lot next door. We will add that information to the story — thanks for pointing out the necessity == and provide a link so readers have it.
