A brief Ladies Home program will bring guests up to date on the Building Our Future capital campaign, including an opportunity to participate with the recent challenge grant awarded by The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation.

Fort Mitchell resident Michelle Riegler Krumpelman has been selected to receive the first Ellen Battelle Dietrick Award to be presented at the event.

The “Ellen Award,” named in honor of the founder of the Covington Ladies Home, recognizes a young woman with a charitable spirit, boundless energy and civic-mindedness in making contributions in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area.

“Ellen Battelle Dietrick was a true pioneer for her time,” Board President Becky Jones said. “In 1886, she saw local women displaced and struggling from the effects of a severe flood and difficult economic times. Her willingness to challenge authority and speak out about societal inequalities inspired others, and ultimately established our beloved Covington Ladies Home. Fast forward to today, and we feel Michelle embodies the same willingness to help those in need.”

Krumpelman is a graduate of Boone County High School and Northern Kentucky University.

She credits her parents, Bob and Debbie Riegler, and her husband, Andy Krumpelman, with inspiring her to “pay it forward” to those in need.

“I am passionate about extending opportunities to other people. I believe when we show understanding, there is empathy and where there is empathy, we can make positive change,” Krumpelman said.

In addition to volunteering with the Covington Ladies Home, she has worked with the Children’s Dyslexia Center, the NKY Young Professionals Organization, and several women’s mentoring programs, among other organizations.

The event is limited to 200 guests, tickets are $125 per person, and seating is by reservation only.
