The Banksy Debate: Carnegie’s ‘Drinking About Art’ to discuss mysterious street artist

A mysterious artist who uses the street as his canvas or a vandal who defaces property? There are many opinions of the graffiti artist Banksy, and they’ll be discussed at The Carnegie’s Drinking About Art: The Banksy Debate, on Friday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. as part of The Carnegie’s G.E.T. Together series.

Part art lecture, part drinking game, and all fun, Drinking About Art: The Banksy Debate pits artist and curator Michael Stillion and writer and curator Maria Seda-Reeder against each other for a humorous debate centered on the merits and mystique of Banksy. Their discussion is more than an art lecture – it’s also an interactive drinking game featuring actors from OTRimprov, secret words, prizes, and more.

“If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind event that features culture, comedy, and good times with great friends, Drinking About Art is the perfect night out,” said Carnegie Theatre Director Maggie Perrino.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a special Drinking About Art: The Banksy Debate happy hour with light hors d’oeuvres in The Carnegie Galleries. After the debate audience members are invited to a late night DJ dance party in The Carnegie Galleries.

Tickets are $21, $15 for students and include a complimentary drink. Tickets may be purchased through The Carnegie Box Office at 859.957.1940, which is open Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5pm, or online at www.thecarnegie.com.

The G.E.T. Together series is a collaborative, interactive series bringing together the talents of The Carnegie’s Gallery, Education, and Theatre departments.
