People in the News: Karen Zengel new director at St. Vincent de Paul, Jostworth gets Red Lobster award


The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Council of Northern Kentucky has announced that Karen Zengel has been named Executive Director to replace Ralph Bradburn who is retiring in September.

Zengel has an extensive background in the for-profit sector. Her experience includes her most recent position as Vice President of Innovation Practice at a local company specializing in helping companies successfully introduce new products to the marketplace.

Her expertise is in client relationship development and team building. She has been actively involved with the Northern Kentucky United Way as an Action Council member and as the program leader at her previous employer.

Dennis Coyne, St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council President said, “Our search committee conducted an extensive search for this critical position. We are very pleased that we found Karen.

“Karen has the background, experience and passion for this ministry and is the perfect person to lead our efforts to expand our programs in Northern Kentucky and help our neighbors in need. We are so pleased that Karen is now a part of our Vincentian family”.

When asked why she pursued the opportunity at St. Vincent de Paul, Zengel said “I’ve become more aware of the gift God gave us to love others no matter what and bring light to those who need it. I am looking forward to using my skills at St. Vincent de Paul as we continue to make a significant impact on the lives of those who need to see Christ’s love at work in today’s world.”

Red Lobster manager gets Lighthouse Club award

Red Lobster presented Kathleen Jostworth, General Manager of the Red Lobster located in Florence, with the company’s top honor – the Lighthouse Club Award. This prestigious award, which has been an integral part of the company’s culture for over 20 years, is presented annually to General Managers throughout North America.

Award recipients are recognized for demonstrating outstanding leadership and living Red Lobster’s core values of Respect, Integrity, Genuine Caring, Hospitality, Teamwork, Excellence and Fun – while also achieving top financial performance in the company’s previous fiscal year. 
 
“Kathleen is a true leader who is brilliant with the basics of running a successful restaurant,” said Chip Wade, Red Lobster’s Executive Vice President of Operations. “Kathleen embodies Red Lobster’s core value of Hospitality and makes delighting guests a number-one priority. As a result, the Florence Red Lobster is among the top-performing locations throughout the country.”
 
This year, Jostworth joins an elite group of 32 General Managers selected from the more than 700 Red Lobster restaurants in North America, making this a truly exclusive honor. Jostworth, who has been with Red Lobster for 17 years, accepted this award on behalf of the entire Florence team.
