Northern Kentucky University’s School of the Arts (SOTA) will host the “In:sight” design exhibition from September 28 through October 20.

“In:sight: a showcase of excellence in strategy and creative risk in regional design” highlights the breadth of design being produced in the area. This gathering is the first of its kind and scope in the region. It runs concurrent with AIGA Cincinnati Design Week and Brandemonium, the International Brand Conference & Festival.
“We’re so excited to host many of the best members from the Greater Cincinnati design community at the NKU School of the Arts,” Kenneth Jones, Director of School of the Arts said. “The opportunity for our NKU students to interact with this level of professional talent will be life changing.”
Twenty design firms and individuals will showcase their works in the SOTA gallery. NKU’s visual communication design faculty, Maren Carpenter-Fearing, Hans Schellhas and Julie Mader-Meersman, compiled the list of designers to be featured.
“The intent of this exhibition is two-fold,” Julie Mader-Meersman, professor of Visual Communication Design said. “First, we want to highlight the high concentration of spectacular talent in the creative industry in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region. Second, we want to put our students in touch with examples of creative excellence to ready them for the communication challenges they will face.”
The opening reception will take place September 28 from 6-9 p.m. at the SOTA gallery to celebrate the opening of the “In:sight” exhibition.
NKU will also host informal gallery talks by six of the exhibitors on Thursday, October 12 as a scheduled activation for the Brandemonium festival. That event is from 7-9 p.m. with talks by Kolar Design, LPK, Madison Design Group, Spicefire, The Think Shop and Christina Wald starting at 7:30 p.m.
“This will be a big event for the regional creative and design firms,” Director of Exhibitions and Collections David Knight said. “Lots of new concepts, ideas and videos will be presented.”
Free parking is available in lots “I” and “D” on both reception nights. For gallery visits at other times, parking is available in the NKU Welcome Center garage for a charge. Gallery is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
