Gary Moore: input sought on Boone County Transportation Plan, still time to weigh in

There’s Still Time to Submit Your Input for the Transportation Plan

Moore

Our Boone County Transportation Plan has had over 900 inputs so far and we want you to help put us over 1000 during our public involvement phase. You have until mid-September to do so.  To date, two public events were held that offered opportunities for residents to provide their ideas about our County’s transportation needs.  A couple of those events were the Transportation Plan Open House at the County’s Main Library and a Facebook Live online broadcasting event. Our project manager has also attended many events including the Boone County Fair, city council meetings, and other groups where she gathered information for the plan.

Please get involved today and help shape the transportation plan by visiting www.BooneKY.oki.org and complete the survey and sign up to receive email updates. You can also contact our project manager directly at 513-619-7662 or via email at rbancroft@oki.org.  I want you think of the problem areas and potential transportation improvements that will enrich our community and provide your input into our planning process.  Together lets work to improve our overall quality of life here in Boone County.

To review, the Boone County Transportation Plan is a strategy to identify recommendations to enhance Boone County’s transportation network and adequately prepare for projected growth through the year 2040.  This inclusive approach to the development of this plan will consider the mobility of all users of the transportation network such as vehicles, freight, transit, pedestrians, and bicycles. By prioritizing Boone County’s transportation needs now, we will be well positioned to strategically budget and secure transportation funding to keep people and goods moving safely and efficiently well into the future.

An open line of communication between local officials and the public is a key component in developing a plan that will best address the concerns of our transportation system. In today’s world, transportation dollars are not sufficient to take care of all of our needs. If we can work smarter through proper planning and implementation of technology, improvements to transportation infrastructure can be done more efficiently and with less impact on tax payers.

Thank you,
Gary W. Moore
