Oktoberfest Zinzinnati sets record for attendance; organizers credit new experiences, location

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati saw 675,000 visitors, September 15-17, according to police estimates. The total surpasses the 650,000 estimated to have attended Oktoberfest Zinzinnati each of the previous three years.

“New experiences, longtime favorites, clear weather and a great site led to a record Oktoberfest Zinzinnati 2017,” said Jill P. Meyer, president and CEO of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, producer of the event. “Thanks to our volunteers, sponsors and everyone who joined us from around the region, the nation and the globe to make Oktoberfest a uniquely Zinzinnati event.”

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, presented by Sam Adams, showcases the rich German heritage of Southwest Ohio, as well as tasty samples of German-style music, food and beer. First held in 1976, the event has grown to be America’s largest Oktoberfest.

“Smart work and dedication from Cincinnati Police, Fire, Traffic and Engineering, ODOT and many more made for a safe and successful Oktoberfest Zinzinnati,” said Cynthia Oxley, director of the event. “Without question, the move to Second and Third streets has been a resounding success. Quite clearly, Zinzinnati loves the new location and we look forward to 2018.”

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati 2018 is scheduled for September 21-23.
