Campbell County Public Library calendar of events in Ft. Thomas, Cold Spring and Newport for September


A monthly list of events at Campbell County Public Library branches is provided here.

The Campbell County Public Library operates three branches.  The Cold Spring Branch is located at 3920 Alexandria Pike in Cold Spring, phone 859-781-6166.  The Carrico/Fort Thomas Branch is located at 1000 Highland Ave. in Fort Thomas, phone 859-572-5033.  The Newport Branch is located at 901 E. Sixth St. in Newport, phone 859-572-5035.

The library will be closed Monday, Sept. 4 for the Labor Day holiday. The library will also be closed Friday, Sept. 29 for all-day training.

Homeschool STEAM Blast: So You Want to be an Archaeologist

Celebrating Kentucky Archaeology Month, this program highlights what archaeologists do during excavations, skills needed for archaeology, and provides a hands-on, interactive demonstration of artifact analysis. Ages 12-19. Registration required.

Cold Spring Coding Club
6:30 pm Thursday, Sept. 7
Learn how to get into the game folder and its code to change it, or even start from scratch to design your own projects. We will be starting with Java in a Minecraft setting using a Python program, and move onto other codes in future months. Ages 11 & up. Register early as laptops are limited.

Dr. Parmita Kapadia, a professor of English at Northern Kentucky University, will discuss Amuly Malladi’s The Mango Season. Table Top Club: War Games

Faith Benson, an Engish instructor at Northern Kentucky University, will discuss Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, a dystopian novel about a terrifying future in which the job of American firemen is to burn books. The novel touches on themes such as censorship, resistance to conformity, and the control of society through mass media. Ages 18 & up. Registration required.

Little Naturalist is the perfect program for 3 to 5 year olds who are curious about animals, their habitats, the environment, and exploring nature. Daddy & Me: Super Hero Party

Adventure Club: Library Secret Service Training

Learn what it takes to become a Library Secret Service Agent through Miss Amy’s Obstacle of DOOM! Earn a badge at the end of the program for becoming an official Library Secret Service Agent! Protect the books! There will be a pirate spin on the program to celebrate National Talk Like a Pirate Day. Ages 6-12. Registration required.

Learn how to make Apple Volcanoes, which liquids will keep apples from browning, and other mad scientist experiments. A variety of apples will be available for tasting. Ages 6-12. Registration required.

Sensory Science
11:30 am-12:15 pm Saturday, Sept. 30
Enjoy this monthly Sensory Science Story Time! Children, ages 4 to 7 are invited to use all of their senses to explore stories, songs and hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) activities. The program begins begin a short storytime that integrates movement and song and ends with hands-on STEAM exploration.
This program is designed for children with sensory integration challenges but is open to children of all abilities. Registration required.

In the 2012-2013 fiscal year, 681,701 people visited the Library, checking out more than 1 million items.
