Tom Ellis Jr. of Ft. Mitchell dies; donations asked for Holmes’ Tom Ellis Athletic Memorial Foundation

Visitation for Tom Ellis Jr. of Ft. Mitchell, who died over the weekend, will be Saturday at 9 a.m. at Trinity Church, 4th and Madison in Covington.

Services will follow at 10 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Middendorf Funeral Home.

Ellis had been at Madonna Manor for several weeks.

He retired as a sales manage for NCR and later started Duck Manor Promotions, a wholesale novelty company in Latonia.

He is survived by wife, Liz, a Realtor with Star One Realtors. They had no children, though they served as “Aunt and Uncle” to numerous children of friends.

“Tom will long be remembered as a good guy and always a gentleman,” said close friend Mer Grayson.

Ellis started a scholarship memorial fund last year at Western Kentucky University in honor of his father, Tom Ellis Sr., a former Hilltopper football standout and a coaching legend at Covington Holmes High School. The scholarship goes to a Northern Kentucky student.

In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Tom Ellis Athletic Memorial (TEAM) Foundation in care of the Covington Public Schools.

The funds will help complete the fundraising effort for the Tom Ellis Memorial Field, which will be dedicated on Thursday.
