NKY Women in Blue planning their 2018 fitness calendar; proceeds benefit Welcome House

Northern Kentucky female police officers are once again stepping up and working out in front of the cameras to support a local charity through the sales of NKY Women in Blue’s 2018 fitness calendar.

The new calendar will feature 13 female police officers from 11 local agencies from Boone, Kenton and Campbell Counties.

All proceeds will go to the Northern Kentucky Welcome House located in Covington.

The Welcome House’s vision is to be a leader in guiding clients from housing uncertainty to housing stability. They accomplish this through the services they provide, such as housing, service coordination, and income & benefits. Their mission is to provide a continuum of services that will end homelessness and promote stability for each person they serve.

The first calendar, released in 2016, raised more than $3000 for the Women’s Crisis Center in Newport.

The 2016 calendar

It was the brainchild of Jill Stulz, a detective with the Fort Mitchell Police Department.

With a focus on health and fitness, the photos will feature female law enforcement officers in various athletic and sports-related images.

“There are other calendars out there featuring police officers and firefighters, but most tend to be sexualized,” said Stulz. “We are doing this to be different, to show that you don’t have to look like a fashion model to be your best self, that woman can be strong and fearless no matter what they look like, their age, their circumstances.”

The photo shoot for the calendar will take place this month.

Several local businesses are offering their support by donating their goods and services in support of the calendar.

These businesses include:
Katie Woodring Photography, Covington; Sweet Viola Designs, Blue Ash, Ohio; and Natalie Lickert at Salon Lofts in Kenwood.

The calendar is scheduled for release in November, which is Homelessness Awareness Month.

Calendars will be $15 each.
