Kenney Shields Day August 26: Proclamation, book signing, short program at Behringer-Crawford

The City Of Covington will hold a Kenney Shields Day celebration on Saturday, August 26, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Behringer-Crawford Museum

Covington Mayor Joseph Meyer will issue a proclamation honoring the former basketball coach, who grew up in Covington and spent several summers working for the city recreation department.

Dr. James Claypool, NKU professor emeritus, will speak briefly about the growth of Northern Kentucky while Shields coached basketball on the high school and college levels for 39 years.

Shields will give a short talk to introduce his new book, Nothing More, Nothing Less, Nothing Else. He will then sell autographed copies of the book for $15.

Items from people mentioned in the book, donated by Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame members to the museum’s sports collection, will be on display.

The event will be televised on TBNK, which will interview anyone who wants to relate their past experiences with Shields.
