Thomas More men’s basketball team will face Xavier in public exhibition game at Cintas Center on Nov. 4

Thomas More’s men’s basketball team will face Xavier University in a public exhibition game at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Saints and Wildcats will square off on Nov. 4. Game time, TV designation and ticket information will be announced at a later time and will be announced on the Thomas More athletic website, www.tmcsaints.com. It will be Xavier’s only public exhibition game.

Thomas More finished the 2016-17 season with a 22-7 record, winning the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament before falling in the first round of the Division III NCAA Championship Tournament. It was the second-ever PAC Championship Tournament title and NCAA Division III Tournament appearance (2009). The season also marked the first time in program history that the team eclipsed the 20-win mark and advanced to the NCAA Tournament in the same season.

The Saints return 18 players from last season’s squad, including all five starters.

Xavier is a consensus preseason Top 25 team again for the 2017-18 season. XU ninth-year head coach Chris Mack has six returning letter winners, including four returning starters, from last year’s squad which reached the 2017 NCAA Division I Tournament Elite Eight.

Xavier also adds a star-studded recruiting class that is ranked by many experts in the top 10 in the country. Xavier has now made it to at least the Sweet 16 six times in the last 10 years, one of only nine schools that have been to at least six since 2008. Xavier played in its fourth straight NCAA Tournament and its 11th in the last 12 years; only eight schools have been to at least 11 of the last 12 tournaments.

Thomas More previously announced that it will travel to Lexington, Kentucky on Oct. 27 to play the University of Kentucky in an exhibition game at Rupp Arena.
