Olympic Gold Medalist Lisa Fernandez headlines Freedom Battle of the Sexes fastpitch softball game


Three-time Olympic gold medalist Lisa Fernandez will be visiting Florence to pitch against the Florence Freedom professional baseball players on Thursday, August 31 for the second annual Battle of the Sexes Softball Game.

Fernandez will headline the event, which will include the Freedom playing a game of fastpitch softball against the softball legend and recent Thomas More College softball alum.

Fernandez may be the most accomplished women’s fastpitch softball player of all time and currently holds the Olympic record of 21 strikeouts in a game.

The Battle of the Sexes softball game event will include the following:

  • 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Lisa Fernandez Softball Clinic
  • 6:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. – Fan Q&A with Lisa
  • 7:15 p.m. – Lisa Fernandez vs Freedom baseball players
  • 7:30 p.m. – 7-inning softball game
  • After 2nd inning – Autographs with Lisa on the concourse

Tickets are discounted throughout the month of July ($10 for groups of minimum 12 people, $12 for individuals). Interested individuals can also purchase a pass for the clinic pre-game.
