Kentucky Nonprofit Network accepting nominations for annual innovation and leadership awards

The Kentucky Nonprofit Network is now accepting nominations for its annual innovation and leadership awards.

The awards will be presented at a luncheon held during the 15th annual Kentucky Nonprofit Leadership Forum, October 24-25, at the Lexington Convention Center. The deadline for submission is Friday, Sept. 1.

The Innovative Nonprofit Award recognizes a nonprofit organization in Kentucky that implements innovative, nontraditional programs or methods to effectively and efficiently meet community needs. The 2016 recipient was the Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning in Lexington.

The Distinguished Nonprofit Leadership Award recognizes outstanding leadership among Kentucky nonprofit chief executives. The award recognizes achievement in the areas of strategic leadership, community building, ethical integrity, innovation and commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector. The 2016 recipient was Richard Seckel, executive director of Kentucky Equal Justice Center.

The Outstanding Board Leadership Award honors the work of a board leader who thinks strategically, works cooperatively with other board members and the executive director to further the mission of the organization, and is actively committed to best practices and succession planning. The 2016 recipient was Kathy Plomin, an active nonprofit board member with a number of nonprofits in Lexington.

“Kentucky Nonprofit Network’s annual awards program is an excellent opportunity for Kentuckians to recognize innovative nonprofits, outstanding board members and distinguished nonprofit executives,” said Danielle Clore, executive director. “Anyone can submit a nomination and help us celebrate the important contributions of these organizations and individuals to our communities.”
