Inaugural Cinema in the Cemetery series kicks off August 4 at Linden Grove with ‘The Lego Movie’

The Covington Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with The Friends of Peaselburg Neighborhood Association, Linden Grove Cemetery and Arboretum and the Center for Great Neighborhoods to host Cinema in the Cemetery on Friday, August 4 starting at dusk.

Cinema in the Cemetery is a series of three movie screenings shown during the months of August, September and October.

The family-friendly event is open and free to the public. The movie showing will take place in Linden Grove Cemetery and Arboretum, located at 1421 Holman Avenue, Covington. Seating is on the lawn and moviegoers are welcome to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs and picnics.

The following movies will be screened:

Friday, August 4 – The Lego Movie
Friday, September 8 – Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Friday, October 13 – Hocus Pocus

Moviegoers are encouraged to come early to explore the history of the cemetery and picnic before it gets dark. The Linden Grove Cemetery and Arboretum is more than 170 years old and is the resting place of many Kentucky and Covington historical figures.

Weather-permitting, all movies will begin at dusk. Please watch the Cinema in the Cemetery Facebook page for updates regarding weather. Moviegoers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

While it is encouraged for Covington residents to walk to this event, parking will be available in a few dedicated lots around the event area. Street parking is also available.
