The construction of the Florence Community Plaza is underway. The plaza is located along Mall Road across from Planet Fitness and next to Snuggies.
This property was donated to the City of Florence by owner Tom Green in 2016 with the expressed purpose that it shall be utilized as a community park. Florence immediately started working with city engineer, Viox & Viox to develop a plan to fulfill the requirements of the agreement and create a space that our community can enjoy. After many discussions it was determined to utilize this space to honor and celebrate the men and women who serve this community.
The Florence Community Plaza will display statues of our Police, Fire/EMS and Public Services Departments. Brick pavers will surround these features and may be purchased to recognize employees upon retirement through engraving names into them. The plaza will also be utilized as a space to for community gatherings including the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, City Night Outings and others.
Florence City Night Out tonight
The City of Florence will hold the City Night Out event on Tuesday, July 11 (tonight) from 5-7 p.m. at the Florence Nature Park, 7200 Parkview Dr, Florence, KY 41042.
Meet city staff and councilmembers, enjoy refreshments, and also learn about 2017 projects and events.
