Campbell County Public Library has plenty of events on its calendar at all three branches in August


The Campbell County Public Library operates branches in Cold Spring, Ft. Thomas and Newport. The Library has provided a list of programs throughout the month of August for adults, teens and children at each of its branches.

Cold Spring
Programs for Adults and Teens

Cold Spring Coding Club
6:30 pm Thursday, Aug. 3
Learn how to get into the game folder and its code to change it, or even start from scratch to design your own projects. We will be starting with Java in a Minecraft setting using a Python program, and move onto other codes in future months. Ages 11 & up. Register early as laptops are limited.

Dungeons & Dragons
6-10 pm Friday, Aug. 4
Welcoming experienced and new players alike, we will be playing Dungeons and Dragons 5e. We will have pre-generated characters. If you would like to make your own character, we will make characters and level up from 6-7 pm. If you’re interested in DMing a game, contact Amy at acarroll@cc-pl.org.

CCPL Board of Trustees Meeting

Design & Build: Rube Goldberg Machine
4 pm Wednesdays, Aug. 16 & 23
A Rube Goldberg machine is a complex contraption in which a series of devices that perform simple tasks are linked together to produce a domino effect, and one device will trigger the next device in the sequence. Work with others to design a Rube Goldberg Machine on blueprint paper out of a random selection of provided items to complete a simple task. Come back next week to build your machine. Ages 11-18. No need to register.

Cubecraft Crafternoon

Spotlight Series: HIVoices presented by Falcon Theatre

HIVoices is a storytelling project intended to raise awareness and amplify communication between members of our own community who live daily with HIV and the people in their world who too often aren’t fully aware of the illness’s impact on their lives. The project is a joint effort between Falcon Theatre, the Northern Kentucky Health Department, the Cincinnati Health Network, and AIDS Volunteers of Northern Kentucky. Registration required.

Spotlight Series: The Stories & Comfort Foods of Kentucky’s Resettled Refugees

Join author Aimee Zaring as she shares stories and reaches across the table to explore the universal language of food. Ms. Zaring will be joined by Pastor Thomas Kap of Northern Kentucky, a Burmese refugee interviewed for her book, Flavors from Home: Refugees in Kentucky Share Their Stories and Comfort Foods. Homeschoolers’ Book Club

In the 2012-2013 fiscal year, 681,701 people visited the Campbell County Library, checking out more than 1 million items. In addition, 40,713 people attended 2,008 programs offered by the Library, and more than 2,359 public meetings took place the library’s meeting rooms. Public computer use topped more than 117,400 users.
