Robinson joins Boone Farm Bureau Insurance

Chris Robinson has been appointed as a new agent with Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Mutual Insurance Company at Boone County Farm Bureau – Florence Agency, Chuck Osborne, Vice President of Agency Support & Marketing for KFB Insurance has announced.

Robinson is a native of Boone County. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Northern Kentucky University and went on to serve as a deputy sheriff in Boone County from 2007 to 2012. Prior to accepting this new role, Robinson was a claim adjuster with KFB Insurance from 2012 until 2017.

Robinson will be located at the Boone County Farm Bureau – Florence Agency at 8640 Haines Drive in Florence and can be reached by phone at (859)525-0123.

Teacher Diane Kelley honored by UK

Diane Kelley of Covington was recently honored by the University of Kentucky College of Education’s Teachers Who Made a Difference program. She was nominated by Kara Gurley.

Kelly is a county extension agent and provides education through 4-H.
Her CES career began in 1989, working in Western Kentucky. She leads the livestock, natural resources, client protection and volunteer management, youth financial programs as well as programs in scholarships, horticulture, youth tractor safety, and youth & adult recognition programs.  Diane works extensively with 4-H school programs, afterschool programming and community clubs.  She is responsible for day camp programs including Geology day camp and Birds, Bees & Bugs!  Diane holds degrees from the University of Kentucky.  Her Bachelor of Science degree is in Agricultural Economics and her Master’s degree is in Vocational Education. 

The program provides an opportunity to thank a teacher, principal, professor, coach or other educator who has been inspirational. The UK College of Education has hosted the Teachers Who Made a Difference program for 19 years.

Secretary Grimes on Taiwan trade mission

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes is visiting Taiwan this week on an international trade mission to Asia with a delegation from the United States.

Grimes is one of four secretaries of state selected to participate in a trip the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) is coordinating and funding. Grimes made a similar visit in 2013, making the trip her second in office.

Grimes will meet with several of the Kentucky companies with offices in Taiwan, including Ashland, Inc., Sunspring America, Inc., and Taihu Brewing. She will also meet with representatives of the Asian Pacific Council of American Chambers. Other corporations with a Kentucky-Taiwan presence include Brown-Forman and Conntek Integrated Solutions in Louisville.

Taiwan is Kentucky’s 6th largest export market in Asia with more than $147 million exports in 2015. Also in 2015, Taiwan officials signed letters of intent to purchase corn and soybeans from Kentucky growers in 2016 and 2017.

Taiwan and Kentucky have been sister states since 1982 in a partnership formed by former Gov. John Y. Brown, Jr.
