Brighton Center to celebrate 20th anniversary of impactful Center for Employment Training on Friday

Brighton Center’s Center for Employment Training (CET) will celebrate its 20th Anniversary on Friday, June 9 at Watertower Square from 3-6 p.m.

This community event is open to community partners, families and children. An interactive tour of CET, meet-and-greets with CET alumni, trainees and staff as well as family activities and refreshments will be offered at the event.

Newport Mayor Jerry Peluso will be reading CET’s 20th Anniversary Declaration at 4 p.m.

The CET 20th Anniversary Open House recognizes over 1,000 dedicated individuals who have earned certifications at CET and started a new career since 1997.

CET is a short-term, skill specific workforce development program that is accredited through the Council on Occupational Education. CET was recognized by the White House in 2014 as 1 of 30 job training programs in the country that works. The program readies trainees through educational and employment opportunities for higher levels of self-sufficiency. CET does not conduct testing as an enrollment requirement, and offers a debt-free education—none of our graduates are burdened with student loans from their training.

Eligible trainees without a high school diploma can prepare for the GED on-site. Brighton Center’s wide array of supports and resources are available to assist our trainees in overcoming barriers to success.
