Newport’s Atlas Dry Cleaners will be in continuous operation for eight decades come this July. The Geisen family started Atlas Dry Cleaners in July of 1937.

It is located at 328 Monmouth Street.

The 22 employee staff puts the customer first everyday.

“We really do try and put the customer first. A lot of people say that, but we really try to do the right thing every single day,” said Stephen Hannah, owner of Atlas Dry Cleaners. Stephen purchased the clothes cleaning facility in 1994.

“We encourage consumers to go online and read the reviews. Social media allows us to fix errors and increase our presence in the community,” said Josh Hannah, who is in charge of the technology side of the business.

Stephen’s son Josh Hannah joined his father’s business three years ago after a career in pharmaceutical sales. The father and son team enjoy working together.

“We just love the relationship we have with our customers. Some even drive up from Maysville just to get their clothes cleaned here,” said Ramona Klingenberg, an employee for Atlas for close to 28 years.

Klingenberg said treating each customer like part of the family is one secret to Atlas’ success.

“The best place to receive in-house dry cleaning. A lot of other dry cleaners outsource their dry cleaning,” said Shelby Wood, a Bellevue resident who has been coming to Atlas for over 12 years now. Wood refuses to go to any other dry cleaner in the area.

Atlas Dry Cleaners is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 6 p,m., Saturday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. and closed on Sundays. Atlas offers pick up and drop off services Monday through Friday.
