The City of Covington announces road closures for Memorial Day events and other upcoming dates


The following events have been issued Special Event Permits by the City of Covington.

During these events some roads sections will be temporary closed to through traffic. The closures will be managed by off-duty law enforcement officers hired by the event organizers.

Hungerwalk 5K Race & Walk
Monday, May 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The following streets will either be closed or have lane restrictions during the race:

• Clay Wade Bailey Bridge – CLOSED
• 4th Street between Johnson Street and Bakewell Street will be closed
• Johnson Street between 3rd Street and 4th Street will be closed
• 3rd Street between Johnson Street to Bakewell Street will be closed
• Bakewell Street between 3rd Street & 4th Street will be closed

Memorial Day Parade
Monday, May 29 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The parade will start at Holmes High School and go north on Madison Avenue to 19th Street to Holman Avenue and continue north on Holman Avenue turning left onto an alley into Linden Grove Cemetery. During the parade this area will be shut down to vehicular traffic.

Private Filming Session
Wednesday, May 31 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The following streets will either be closed or have lane restrictions during filming:
  • Clay Wade Bailey Bridge will have intermittent traffic control from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

CASA for Kids 5K Race

Saturday, June 3 from 6:00 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The following streets in Devou Park are part of the CASA for Kids 5K course and will be closed for the race:
• The race/walk will start at Park Lane and veer right onto Bandshell Blvd.
• Bandshell Blvd. will turn into Montague Rd.
• Turn right onto Home Drive
• Turn left onto Montague Road
• Turn right onto Breckinridge Road
• Turn right onto Montague Road
• Turn right onto Bandshell Blvd.
• Turn left onto Park Lane
• The race/walk will finish at Park Lane

Covington Farmers Market
Saturdays beginning May 6 to October 28 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• E. 3rd Street between Scott Blvd. and Greenup Street will be closed.
