It’s never too early or late to work toward being your healthiest self.
That’s the message during National Women’s Health Week this week.
Whether you’re a 20-something or entering retirement age, it’s time to understand what steps you can take to improve your health and make your health a priority.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women’s Health, here are some steps you can take for better health:
• Visit a doctor or nurse for a well-woman checkup and preventative screenings.
• Get active.
• Eat healthy.
• Pay attention to mental health, including getting enough sleep and managing stress.
• Avoid unhealthy behaviors, such as smoking and texting while driving or not wearing a seatbelt or bicycle helmet.
If you’d like to participate in National Women’s Health Week, the Office on Women’s Health invites you to:
• Spread the word through social media using the hashtag #NWHW.
• Take an interactive quiz to learn more about your health and steps you can take for a healthier you.
• Organize events or activities, like a walk at lunch.
