The Glier’s Goetta “Party on the Purple” weekly summer series will kick off on Wednesday, May 17, with local cover band 3 Piece Revival, and will run for 12 consecutive weeks. A portion of the proceeds from the events will go toward repainting and maintaining the 120-year-old Purple People Bridge.

The parties, which are free and open to the public, will be held each Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. from May 17 to August 2, with different live bands taking the stage in the middle of the bridge during the course of the summer. The events will include beer, food trucks, soft drinks, wine, and spirits.

Partygoers also will be able to purchase Party on the Purple’s signature purple cocktail made with Svedka Vodka.

“Glier’s Meats is thrilled to be the title sponsor of The Glier’s Goetta ‘Party on the Purple’ events this summer,” said Dan Glier, president of Glier’s Meats Inc. “The Glier name is synonymous with great food, fun times, and active people. Supporting the efforts to paint the Purple People Bridge provides Glier’s Meats another avenue to work within the community and support local events and charities.”

Along with Glier’s Goetta, Svedka Vodka, and Charles Smith Wines are official sponsors of Party on the Purple.

The Purple People Bridge is owned by the Newport Southbank Bridge Company, a private, nonprofit organization that is raising funds to re-paint the bridge and maintain the structure that is used by hundreds of thousands of pedestrians and bikers each year.

“Our organization wanted to create a community event that will bring both sides of the river together for a summer of fun and help raise money to maintain the bridge at the same time,” said Jack Moreland, president of Southbank Partners and chair of the Newport Southbank Bridge Company.

ColdIron Enterprises Inc. is a local event company that produces, provides rental equipment, and concession services for events such as Taste of Cincinnati, Italianfest, Oktoberfest and the WEBN Fireworks.

They will handle the production of the Glier’s Goetta Party on the Purple.

“We are proud to work with the Purple People Bridge and bring to life a great weekly event while raising funds and awareness for the painting of the bridge,” said Marc Wertheim, president and CEO of ColdIron Enterprises Inc.
