Find Waldo, celebrate Star Wars, much more at Kenton County Public Library in May


Learning how to be an adult, finding Waldo, celebrating Star Wars, combating fake news, learning to sign and much more will be happening at the Kenton County Public Library during the month of May! With over 150 FREE programs, everyone is sure to find something they love.

Where’s Waldo Picture Time – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Saturdays, April 29-May 27

Every Saturday in May we will be taking pictures of large groups of people in different locations around the Erlanger Library. Goofy costumes are encouraged. Photos will be used on Library social media. See www.kentonlibrary.org/events for each week’s theme.

Where’s Waldo 30th Anniversary – Erlanger, Covington & Independence

May 1-31

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Where’s Waldo by finding him in the Children’s Department. Lucky participants who find Waldo will win a small prize. Children ages 2-12.

Planning a Disney Vacation – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Learn the ins and outs of planning a Disney World or Disneyland vacation.

Star Wars Celebration Trivia & Game Night – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Thursday, May 4, 6:30-8:30 pm

Join us for an evening of trivia, games and refreshments. Prizes to be awarded to the top 3 winners.

English as a Second Language (ESL) – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Thursdays, May 4 & 18, 2-3 pm

Practice listening and talking in English in a friendly and informal conversation club. This is for English learners at all levels, but participants should have some English knowledge.

Let’s Get Cooking – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Thursday, May 4, 1-3 pm

Katelyn Banks of Kate’s Catering will be on hand to teach a recipe. Registration required at www.kentonlibrary.org/events. Adults only.

ASL – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Tuesdays, May 9, 23 and 30, 6-7:30 pm

Learn American Sign Language basics with Kentucky School for the Deaf outreach consultant Sue Frisbee. Earn 1.5 CEUs per class.

Martial Arts and Movement Expo – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Saturday, May 13, noon-4 pm

Join us for a full day of martial arts and movement disciplines demonstrating and teaching featuring NKY Shaolindo, Dominach’s Taekwondo, Son of Siam, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Kendo Club, Swift Movement. For everyone.

How to Adult Fair – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Saturday, May 13, 2-4 pm

Learn how to adult from a variety of local business and organizations. Learn to balance a budget, shop for a home, manage a bank account, make appointments and much more. Open to teens and adults.

Dress Up Like Waldo Day – Covington Library, 502 Scott Boulevard, Covington

Tuesday, May 16, 9 am-9 pm

Where’s Waldo is celebrating 30 years! Stop by the Library to have your picture taken with a life-size Waldo cutout. Bonus points if you dress up like Waldo. Post your picture to social media using #kentonlibrary for a chance to win a prize.

Combating Fake News; A Q & A with local experts – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Thursday, May 18, 6-7 p.m.

The panel discussion will consist of Nancy Daly, The Enquirer, John Lomax, Channel 12 News, Alyssa Appleman, NKU Journalism Department, Ryan Salzman, NKU Political Science and Krista King-Oaks, Kentucky Department of Libraries. Mark Heyne, WVXU, will moderate.
