Florence, Newport among Northern Kentucky cities with Memorial Day parades, observances


The City of Florence will hold its annual Memorial Day Parade & Program on Monday, May 29, 2017. Join the City as it honors the men and women of the Armed Forces who fought and died to defend our Country in the past and present wars.

At 10 a.m. the parade will begin at Boone County High School and end at the Boone County Veterans Memorial (located on the campus of the Florence Government Center, 8100 Ewing Boulevard).

Awards will be provided for the “Most Patriotic Float”. No political campaigning allowed in the parade.

From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. there will be a display of military equipment and memorabilia on the Florence government Center Campus by military organizations.

At 11 a.m. there will be a program at the Boone County Veterans Memorial that will honor and memorialize all who died while serving in all wars and branches of the Armed Forces to keep our country safe and free.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Florence Community Band and Chorus

Newport Memorial Day Parade – Monday, May 29th beginning at 9:00am – Be a Participant or Be a Parade Watcher Along the Route.

This is a Special Tribute in honor of Veterans. Your participation will help in recognizing our Veterans.  There will be a ceremony following the parade at the City Building – 998 Monmouth Street.  A free continental breakfast will follow.

The Parade route begins at 4th and Columbia, then east to York to 6th Street then east to Monmouth and south on Monmouth to the City Building at 10th Street.
