The award is presented by the Commonwealth of Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy.

The award is being made in recognition of the Cincinnati Edition program of March 1, 2017 focusing on the work of public defenders in the U.S. legal system. That program can be heard here.

Anthony Lewis was an author and journalist, credited with creating the field of legal journalism.

The Anthony Lewis Media Award will be presented during the 2017 Defender Recognition Luncheon on Tuesday, June 20 in Owensboro, Kentucky.

Cincinnati Edition is WVXU’s call-in talk show, airing weekdays from 1-2 p.m., with rebroadcasts Saturday and Sunday morning at 7 a.m.
