Campbell County Public Library seeking applications for two board of trustee openings


The Campbell County Public Library is seeking applications for two openings on its board of trustees. These are non-paid, volunteer positions.

Applications will be accepted through June 22, and interviews will be conducted in July. The terms for the new board of trustee members begins October 1, 2017.

Members of the Library’s board of trustees are appointed to serve four-year terms. By law, the board must maintain a balanced geographical representation of all areas of the county. In keeping with the law, applicants for the two positions should live in either the Bellevue, Dayton or Newport geographical area, or in Cold Spring or Highland Heights.

Present board members are Cathy Howard, Paul Johnson and Tracy Smith. Board member Christie Fillhardt has completed one four-year term and is eligible to serve a second term. Board member Carla Landon is serving the unfulfilled term of Mike Whiteman, who resigned when he moved out of the county. Landon is eligible to serve two full terms.

Applicants should complete the application and submit a cover letter and resume to Library Director JC Morgan at our Cold Spring Branch, 3920 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, KY 41076. By law, two nominees for each position will be forwarded to Kentucky State Librarian Terry Manuel.

Then, four names will be forwarded to Campbell County Judge-Executive Steve Pendery who will select the two new board members.

The board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month.

Meetings last about two hours. Board of trustee responsibilities include reading prepared materials prior to the meetings; reviewing and approving the policies and budget; and being an advocate for the Library.
