Brighton Center’s Center for Employment Training (CET) will celebrated the graduation of 29 trainees and the programs 20th Anniversary on May 11 at the Newport Syndicate.
The graduation celebration recognized the dedicated individuals who have earned certifications in either Medical Assisting or Business & Computer Technologies and are starting a new career.
Since opening 20 years ago in 1997, over 1,000 trainees have successfully completed a skill division and started a new career.
The 29 graduates include 15 from the Medical Assisting skill division, nine from the Business & Computer Technology skill division and five GED completions.
To help celebrate the accomplishments of the 29 graduates and the programs 20th anniversary, Judge Steve Pendery was Key Note speaker. Judge Pendery has served as Campbell County Judge/Executive since 1999 and is a lifelong resident of Campbell County.
CET is a short-term, skill specific workforce development program that is accredited through the Council on Occupational Education. The program readies trainees through educational and employment opportunities for higher levels of self-sufficiency. Training is hands-on, highly individualized, and self-paced. CET does not conduct testing as an enrollment requirement, and offers financial aid—none of our graduates are burdened with student loans from their training.
Eligible trainees without a high school diploma can prepare for the GED on-site. CET provides contextual learning, combining four cornerstones of professional development: skill training, career development, success skills, and adult education competencies. Brighton Center’s wide array of supports and resources are available to assist our trainees in overcoming barriers to success.
