Two seniors who led their Northern Kentucky boys’ high school basketball teams to the state tournament this season were selected to the Kentucky All-Stars team that will play a two-game series against the top seniors in Indiana this summer.

Cooper guard Sean McNeil and Scott guard Jake Ohmer were named to the 12-player Kentucky All-Stars boys’ roster on Tuesday, two days after tryouts for the team were held at Campbellsville University.

None of the Northern Kentucky girls’ basketball players that were invited to the Kentucky All-Stars tryouts were named to the team that will also play a two-game series against the top senior girls in Indiana.

McNeil averaged 17 points and 6.3 rebounds for the Cooper team that won the 9th Region title and lost in championship game of the state tournament. The Bellarmine University recruit was named to the all-state tournament team and voted one of the top 10 players in Kentucky in a statewide coaches poll.

Jake Ohmer

Ohmer was among the state’s leading scorers with a 27.8 average and snagged 8.4 rebounds per game for the Scott team that won the 10th Region title. The Western Kentucky University recruit was named to the state all-tournament team after he scored 106 points in three games at Rupp Arena. He was also voted one of the top 10 players in Kentucky in a statewide coaches poll.

Ohmer and McNeil will be on the Kentucky All-Stars team that has games scheduled against the Indiana All- Stars on Saturday, June 10 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and Sunday, June 11 at Frankfort Convention Center. Proceeds from the game held in Frankfort will go to the Kentucky Lions Eye Foundation.
