Kroger and Freestore Foodbank to host Food Rescue Challenge and hunger relief conversation

Teams of local restaurant chefs and Cincinnati COOKS! students, community and government leaders, and other local hunger relief agencies will participate in a Food Rescue Challenge and hunger relief conversation on Tuesday, April 25.

The event will take place in two segments:

  • 2 p.m. – Food Waste Challenge, The Rosenthal Community Kitchen inside the Freestore Foodbank at 1141 Central Parkway. Fresh rescued food (Kroger’s Perishable Donation Partnership) will be donated and delivered to chef teams who will create a meal using the fresh product. This is a food challenge – chefs and Cincinnati COOKS! students will not know the food they are receiving until it arrives and are tasked to create a meal based on the ingredients they receive.
  • 6:30 p.m. – Community Tasting Table and Conversation: Memorial Hall, 1225 Elm Street. Kroger, community and government leaders, local hunger relief agencies will enjoy an evening of fabulous food prepared by the area’s top chefs and have a thoughtful conversation around ending hunger in Greater Cincinnati communities.
