Independence woman, grandson killed in accident on Wayman’s Branch Road in South Covington Thursday

An Independence woman and her grandson were killed in an accident at Wayman’s Branch Road and Rockwood Drive in South Covington late Thursday afternoon.

Covington Police say when they arrived on the scene at approximately 5:08 p.m., they discovered a vehicle that had left the roadway, on its top, partially submerged in a creek.

Naomi Miller, 61, and Jordan Miller, 16, both of Independence, were dead at the scene. Another passenger, a 16-year-old male, whose name has not been released, received minor injuries.

The incident is still under investigation, but it is believed this was a single-vehicle injury and weather was a factor.

Covington Police released the following report regarding the accident:

On April 6, 2017 at approximately 5:08 PM the Covington Police responded to a report of a vehicle off the roadway at Waymans Branch and Rockwood Drive in South Covington. When officers arrived, they discovered a vehicle that had left the roadway and landed on its top, partially submerged in the creek that runs parallel to the roadway. The vehicle was occupied by three individuals. Two of the occupants of the vehicle were found deceased and one occupant walked from the accident with minor injuries.

While this is still a very preliminary investigation, it is believed that this is a single vehicle collision with the weather and road conditions suspected as the primary contributors of this collision.

It was initially reported that the survivor of the collision was a young female. That early information was inaccurate. The survivor of the collision is a 16 year male, whose name will not be released at this time. His injuries were minor.

The decedents are:

Driver – 61 Year old Naomi Miller of Independence, KY

Occupant – 16-Year-old Jordan Miller of Independence, KY

Naomi Miller is the Grandmother of Jordan Miller.
