Turfway Park selections for Friday

Turfway Park in Florence provides daily selections and comments for the Tribune during the live racing meets.

FRIDAY, MARCH 24

RACE 1
MAJOR DARBY has been ultra-consistent lately and comes off of a nice win. He should be able to repeat with Ouzts back aboard for Larry Smith. MAGNETIC START just missed last out in a game effort and will be tough to beat. CHARLIE ST GOLD fits in here.

RACE 2
ALIEN SEASON debuts for Wes Ward off of a series of solid works and should be ready to go with Jimenez in the irons tonight. HAYNESFIELD BEST was overmatched last out but drops back in for a tag and is the one to beat at this level. AND THANK YOU will be running at the end.

RACE 3
DOLLAR BILLY was no match for a runaway winner in his debut at the Fair Grounds but ran well to finish fourth after making the lead turning for home. He figures to move forward off of that effort and rates the edge in here. TERRIFYING drops in class for Mike Maker and will be the one to beat at this level. COWBOY QUINN had a rough trip last out and is capable of better.

RACE 4
LIL LUCILLE has been first or second in all four of her races here at Turfway. She posted a bullet work here on Saturday and rates the edge in this bottom claimer. TRULY TRUDY comes in off of an impressive win over the top pick and a repeat of that one makes her very tough to beat. CONSORTS RING also looked good winning last out.

RACE 5
AMERICA’S KITTEN drops in class after running some decent races against much better at Gulfstream. Anything close to his best makes him a winner with Jimenez picking up the mount tonight. UNDER THE TABLE also takes the big class drop and looks like the main competition. I’LL GIVE YOU WAR has the speed to be dangerous.

RACE 6
ARCH PEARL was second to Normandy Crossing last out and drops back in for a tag tonight. He appears to be in a good spot to pick up the win with Gilligan aboard for Conor Murphy. TOAST THE KITTEN was a sharp winner is his three-year-old debut and will be tough despite facing the older runners tonight. CASTLEFINN is a contender.

RACE 7
ARYA looked sharp winning at this level and should be able to make it two in a row for Danner and Lezcano. PATSY EM likes this track and figures to be the main competition. STRUMMING was a beaten favorite last out but was well clear of the third place finisher in that one.

RACE 8
THE CURT FOX continues to move up in class after two straight impressive scores. This is a much tougher field but he has been impressive and rates the edge for Wes Ward with John Cruz named to ride. HUNKA BURNING LOVE has run against much better in the WEBN and the Battaglia Stakes. He cuts back to six furlongs and will be very hard to beat tonight.

RACE 9
KOWBOY KODY was second in his first race back after an eight month layoff. He should move forward off of that one and has the speed to be on or near the lead throughout. Give him the edge. BLUEMYMIND has been off since January but has run well over this track and is the one to beat. WICKED PICKETT is another one who makes his second start after a long layoff and is a contender.
