Wednesday deadline to nominate for Florence Rotary Teacher of the Year; still time to apply for scholarship awards


The deadline to nominate someone for the Rotary Club of Florence Teacher of the Year is Wednesday.

A candidate for Rotary Teacher of the Year should be an exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable, and skilled teacher in any Boone County school, pre-kindergarten through grade twelve, who is planning to continue in an active teaching status.

To be eligible, a nominee must:
-Be currently employed as a teacher in a public or private school in Boone County
-Inspire students to learn
-Have the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues
-Play an active and useful role in the community, as well as, in the school
-Be poised, articulate, and possesses the energy to withstand a taxing schedule
-Exemplify the “Service above Self” standard in his or her professional and community environment
-If the teacher has been previously nominated and was not the award winner they are still eligible to receive the award.

Post-mark and deadline to submit an on-line Nomination is Wednesday, March 8.

Nominations should be submitted to rotaryaward.com

An Awards Reception to recognize the winner will take place Monday, April 24,at Noon, at the Hilton Cincinnati Airport, in Florence.

Scholarships available for Boone County seniors

Florence Rotary is also giving $6,000 in scholarships to high school seniors from Boone County in April. Students should contact guidance counselors for an application packet.

Key dates in the evaluation process include:

March 27—postmark deadline for submission of applications
April 3 through 6—student interviews
April 17—Scholarship Presentations at the weekly Rotary club meeting, with plaques and framed certificates.
