Each year the City of Covington receives CDBG and HOME funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The CDBG program provides communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs. The HOME program provides resources to increase affordable housing opportunities through activities such as building, buying, and/or rehabilitating affordable housing for rent or homeownership.

Information gathered at the public hearing will be used to prioritize funding to address the needs of low and moderate income residents. Areas that are addressed include housing, economic development, public facility improvements, and public services.

In the past, the CDBG and HOME programs have funded activities such as homebuyer programs, recreation programs, homeowner rehabilitation programs, infrastructure improvements, crime prevention efforts, park maintenance and playground equipment.

All comments and opinions regarding the best ways to use the funds are welcome.  Comments may also be made regarding the current use of these funds and the performance of these programs. All members of the public are encouraged to attend. Handicap access into the public hearing is available.

Any interested individuals unable to attend the public hearing are able to mail written comments to Jeremy Wallace, Department of Development, City of Covington, 20 West Pike Street, Covington, KY, 41011, or emailed to  jwallace@covingtonky.gov. For questions or comments, please call 859.292.2163.
