‘Hearts Are Trump ‘ euchre tournament, silent auction sends kids with heart disease to Camp Joyful Hearts

The 7th annual Hearts Are Trump 2017, a Euchre Tournament and Silent Auction to support Camp Joyful Hearts, a week long summer camp in Greater Cincinnati only for children ages 8 to 16 with congenital or acquired heart disease.

“I am drawn to support this cause because of personal experience,” said auction organizer Carrie Rogiers. “My good friend Sara’s son, Parker, was diagnosed with tetralogy of fallot, a congenital heart disease, at 6 days of age. He attended Camp Joyful Hearts in 2010 for the first time at age 8. This camp was his first experience surrounded by kids with heart disease.”

‘Heart’ kids of all different levels of ability share in the joy of summer camp that Camp Joyful Hearts offers.

A pediatric cardiologist and cardiac nurses are on site 24 hours a day, giving parents the peace of mind to allow their child to have this character building week as a part of their lives.

The cost for just one camper is $550, though the entire cost for camp is covered by private sponsorship, so it is accessible for families who may already be struggling with medical costs.

Over 120 kids were at last year’s camp.

Camp Joyful Hearts, right in Greater Cincinnati, impacts the lives and experiences of these local children and their families.

Sara Mirus, Parker’s mom, is coordinator of the nonprofit.

Hearts Are Trump 2017 will take place on Saturday March 4, at Five Seasons Sports Country Club in Crestview Hills from 5.30-10 p.m.

There will be 25 tables of four competing during the four-hour event.

Event admission is $35 per person and will include hearty hors d’oeuvres and two drink tickets.

There will be amazing silent auctions and a split the pot raffle.

“Our first year we raised $5,400,” said Rogiers. “Last year we donated $24,000 to Cincinnati Children’s for the camp.”

Over $89,000 has been raised so far.

The goal this year is to surpass a $100,000 level.
