Commission on Women seeking ‘history makers’ nominations of women as role models

March is National Women’s History Month, and the Kentucky Commission on Women (KCW) is honoring women by recognizing “history makers” – women who mentor or serve as role models for other women or girls as they work toward achieving their goals and dreams to make their own marks on history.

“We know the importance of positive role models and mentors for women and girls,” said Cordelia Harbut, executive director of KCW.

“Female role models and mentors provide confidence and inspiration for women and girls to achieve historical endeavors now and in the future. The Commission wants to encourage and promote these relationships by recognizing women who are inspiring others to create their own history. We call these women ‘history makers.’”

The Commission will spotlight the winners during March with features on a variety of KCW distribution channels and news releases sent to media outlets throughout Kentucky.

Nomination forms are available at Women’s History Month and will be accepted until Feb. 28, 2017.
