The Point Arc, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation bring new program for summer jobs for students

The Point Arc has been working with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) to begin a new summer offering, to increase services offered and fill a gap to serve our younger individuals.

That summer offering was approved and will begin through The Point Arc Transition Program.

The program will offer summer work experience for students ages 14 and up.

The students will be working with either Master Provisions and/or The Point Embroidery and Screen Print Company or Point Perk. The entire Social Communication and Education team at The Point will be working on this together.

Director of Transition, Employment, & Social Communication, Jennifer Wells, and Transition Program Coordinator Linda Lane have been working non-stop to get this program through because being able to offer this program for our younger individuals and get them the work experience is a leg up.

As Jennifer says “No one in the state is currently offering a program like this, and The Point Arc will be.”

Through The Point’s transition program some of the skills individuals develop are demonstrating a positive attitude, giving your best effort, appreciating diversity, problem-solving, asking for assistance and taking initiative.

This is another example of The Point Arc filling in the gaps where they need to be filled.
