Southbank’s Moreland to speak at CBC luncheon, updating projects on Imagination 2020 economic plan

The latest developments pertaining to Covington and Northern Kentucky riverfront development will be explored at the January 19 CBC luncheon featuring Southbank Partners President Jack Moreland.

The event is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Madison Event Center.

Moreland will provide updates on projects that are part of Southbank’s Imagination 2020 initiative. Imagination 2020 is the economic development action plan for the Southbank cities covering 11 miles of riverfront.  The Covington portion provides a $76 million impact and enhances connectivity between the Licking and Ohio Rivers to Madison Avenue.

A key component of the overall plan is Riverfront Commons, an 11.5 mile walking/ biking path that runs along the Ohio River from the city of Ludlow on the west to the city of Ft. Thomas on the east.   Riverfront Commons will seamlessly connect over the Purple People Bridge to trails in Cincinnati, to the Licking River Greenway in Northern Kentucky, and to Devou Park in Covington.

Moreland will also outline threats to the process such as statewide funding which has been curtailed as government officials deal with other critical money issues, such as funding the dwindling state pension fund.

Event sponsor is St. Elizabeth Healthcare.
