Public input sought on options for Fort Mitchell’s General Ormsby Mitchel Park improvements


The City of Fort Mitchell Park Board is seeking public input on three options for improvements for the General Ormsby Mitchel Park located at 261 Grandview Drive.

gen-ormsby-mitchell-parkPlan options will be on display during the public meetings. One of the plan options will be chosen as the long-range master plan for the park.

Public comments will be sought for long range planning for the city’s largest park. The proposed park designs are based upon community input and may include walking trail, running track, artificial turf for athletic field and improvements to the facilities. The public meetings will be held as follows:

January 19, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church Undercroft

January 31, 2017, 6:00 p.m. at Fort Mitchell Baptist Church

“We are looking forward to receiving feedback and learning more from the residents who will actually use and enjoy General Ormsby Mitchel Park,” said Park Board Chairman Bobbie Williams. “Based upon the most popular designs that will be presented during the public meetings, improvements will be finalized. We look forward to hearing input and ideas from our citizens.”

fort-mitchell-logoThe master plan for General Ormsby Mitchel Park will guide decisions, investments and budgets for the next several decades. Ormsby Park is widely used by residents, children and sports teams. The city hopes to create a park environment that maximizes the usage throughout all the seasons of the year. The three plans are available for viewing on the City’s website .

General Ormsby Mitchel Park is located on the site of one of seven Civil War fortifications built for the Defense of Cincinnati. General Ormsby M. Mitchel was a highly regarded professor at Cincinnati College who designed the fortifications.
