More than 100 free programs at the Kenton County Public Library in February; here’s a preview


Celebrate Valentine’s Day and the month of February at The Kenton County Public Library with more than 100 free programs.

Here are some of the highlights.  

Let’s Get Cooking – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Thursday, February 2, 1-3 pm

Colonel De Spices will present a cooking class with tastings!

Online Dating Set-up  – Erlanger Branch Library, 1992 Kenton Lands Road

Thursday, February 2, 6:30-8:30 pm

Want to get into the dating world? We will help you create your profile and give online safety tips! Registration required at www.kentonlibrary.org/events.

Re-Entry Job Fair – Covington Branch, 502 Scott Boulevard

Tuesday, February 7, 11 am-3 pm

If you’ve been out of the workforce for a while, stop by the library to meet more than a dozen local employers with jobs to fill.

Galentine’s Day – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Tuesday, February 7, 7-8 pm

Drop in and make your gal pals Galentine’s Day cards to celebrate National Send Your Friend A Card Day, watch Park and Recreations’s two Galentine’s Day episodes, and make your dreams come true with our WAFFLE BAR!

Valentine’s Day Craft – Covington Branch, 502 Scott Boulevard

Thursday, February 9, 7-8 pm

Make a heart-shaped sun catcher that will be the perfect gift for someone you love. School age children.

Heart String Art – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Saturday, February 11, 2-3 pm

Make a valentine using string art. We’ll listen to a story and have a snack too. Ages 6-12.

Valentine’s Day Cards – Covington Branch, 502 Scott Boulevard

Sunday, February 12, 2-3 pm

The library has everything you need to create a wonderful Valentine’s Day card for that special someone.

Valentine Magic – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Sunday, February 12, 2-3:30 pm

Share a little magic with your valentine and the whole family at the Library. Enjoy a magic show at 2 followed by crafts, face painting and a sweet treat. Co-sponsored by the City of Erlanger Parks and Recreation.

Galentines Day Celebration – Durr Branch, 1992 Walton-Nicholson Road, Independence

Monday, February 13, 9 am-9 pm

Those 17 and older are invited to celebrate Galentines Day. This day was founded by Leslie Knope of Parks and Recreation. We will spend the day crafting, cooking movie watching and celebrating our accomplishments. DIY, crafts and cooking classes will be first come, first serve. 

Cook-A-Book – Covington Branch, 502 Scott Boulevard

Saturday, February 18, 11 a.m.

This month read and enjoy “Stone Soup.” We’ll read the book, prepare a delicious soup, and make a craft while we’re waiting for it to be done. Register at www.kentonlibrary.org/events. Limited to the first 20 children, preschool and school age.

Harry Potter Week – Covington Branch, 502 Scott Boulevard

Monday, February 20-Saturday, February 25

These school age programs are for all the Muggles and Wizards out there! There will be Harry Potter themed activities throughout this magical week including making wands, learning to care for cool creatures, making scarves, Harry Potter trivia, capturing the Sorcerer’s Stone and watching the first movie! Stop by the children’s desk that week to receive a house pin.  

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book Eleven Celebration – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Monday, February 20, 7-8 pm

Celebrate the release of this new book with trivia, games and other activities. Two lucky kids will win a brand new copy of the book. Kids are invited to dress up as their favorite character if they wish. School age kids.

Celebrate National Chili Day – Erlanger Branch Library, 401 Kenton Lands Road

Thursday, February 23, 7-8 pm

School age kids are invited for chilly stories and then make your own chili seasoning mix to take home.
