Florence woman who allegedly stabbed husband in the neck with two knives charged with assault

A Florence woman is in jail for allegedly stabbing her husband in the neck with two knives Monday morning.

Florence police say Scottie Gilbert, 38, who lives at the Parkland Apartments in Florence, was getting dressed for work, when his wife, Amy Gilbert, allegedly poked him in the neck with a knife, causing a minor laceration.

Gilbert reportedly took the knife from her, then left the apartment for work. Amy Gilbert allegedly followed her husband into the parking lot with another knife and stabbed him in the neck.

Gilbert drove to St. Elizabeth Florence and was transferred to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Amy Gilbert, 37, is charged with Assault, First Degree and is being held in the Boone County Detention Center.

The Florence Police Department has issued the following statement regarding the incident:

On 01/30/17 the Florence Police Department responded to the Emergency Department of St. Elizabeth Florence for a male subject suffering from a stab wound to his neck. The victim, Scottie Gilbert, 38 years old, Florence, KY advised that when he woke up this morning and was getting dressed for work his wife had a knife in her hand. The victim stated that she poked him in the neck with the knife causing a minor laceration. He then took that knife from her and left the apartment for work. She followed him out into the parking lot with another knife and stabbed him in the neck.

The victim then drove himself to St. Elizabeth Florence and was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The following individual was charged with Assault 1st and transported to the Boone County Detention Center:  Amy Gilbert, 37 years old, Florence, KY
