Covington Latin’s ExploreMore expands beyond enrichment of gifted students to be family resource

ExploreMore at Covington Latin School is expanding its program to not only be the longest running and premier enrichment program for gifted students, but a resource for families as well.

Having a gifted child can be a challenge. ExploreMore at Covington Latin wants to be a resource for everything from enrichment classes to their parent speaker series with world renowned experts in education.

ExploreMore also offers classes in etiquette and internet safety.

The program is focused on whole child development and helping families find the resources for the diverse needs of their gifted child.  Director of ExploreMore Amy Darpel, says the program is committed to bringing the best enrichment and educational opportunities to all bright students in the area. The goal is to be the source that families can look to help engage and advocate for their gifted child.

The ExploreMore at Covington Latin School Program is now accepting registrations for its spring enrichment program for students in grades K-6.

The program offers a broad range of enrichment courses designed for bright and enthusiastic students in a learning environment where creativity and critical thinking meet – encouraging students to discover hidden talents, explore new interests outside the classroom and deepen existing ones.

From science and mathematics, to the visual and performing arts, students explore an ever-changing array of topics through a hands-on, minds-on approach – in a learning atmosphere filled with like-minded and similarly engaged peers.

The small class size allows for personalized attention qualified instructors and increased opportunity to participate in class activities. Instructors possess a high caliber, engaging teaching style that is reflected in the interactive nature of these courses, according to Co-Director, Lisa Apollonio.

The ExploreMore spring session takes place Saturdays, March 11- 25th. Classes include Gross Anatomy, Minecraft, Video Game Design, Medieval Art, Speech, Space Exploration, Music Around the World, Karate, I’m an Author, and many others. The first 20 students to register will receive a free t-shirt.

The mission of Covington Latin School is to never turn away a qualified student due to financial hardships, so financial aid is available for those who qualify.
