Beechwood, Dixie Heights roll to easy victories in district football games

Beechwood scored 42 points in the first quarter and went on to defeat Ludlow, 48-6, in a Class 1A district football game on Thursday at Ludlow.

st-e-football-plug-768x249James Davis returned the opening kickoff 69 yards for a touchdown to start the Tigers’ scoring spree. After Aiden Justice scored the next two touchdowns on runs, quarterback Brayden Burch threw TD passes to Garrett Ratliff and Jon Odom.

In the final seconds of the first quarter, Davis scored again on a 12-yard run and Daniel Mescher kicked the extra point to make it 42-0.

Beechwood finished with 238 total yards while holding Ludlow to 88. The Panthers’ lone touchdown came on a 10-yard run by Matthew Reusch early in the fourth quarter.

Dixie Heights shut out Grant County, 39-0, in a Class 5A district game on Thursday. The Colonels have a 2-0 district record. They can clinch the district title with a win over Covington Catholic next week.
