BBQ & Bluegrass Jam at Steepleview Farm October 15; hayrides, family fun, and more — for good causes


The theme of this year’s Steepleview Farm charity event is “Prevention and Detection are in your hands,” as Marcus and Harriet Carey present their BBQ & Bluegrass Jam.

St. Elizabeth Hospital Mobile Mammography van will be on site.

In addition the hay ride to the pumpkin patch will provide an opportunity for attendees to support Komen Kentucky, the Susan G. Komen foundation as they race toward a cure.

Pit-cooked BBQ and live down home bluegrass combine with a hay ride, pumpkin patch, apple cider and autumn events for a day of great family entertainment at the beautiful Steepleview Farm in Poplar Grove, Owen County.

Ticket proceeds will benefit Owen County Arts Council Scholarships, other activities of the day benefitting The Wounded Warrior Project, Project Graduation, Operation Honor and — in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness month, The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation.

“Harriet and I are so blessed to live in this wonderful community of people and to enjoy much by the grace of God and we want to give something back, to say thank you and to introduce many more people to the peace and beauty of our little piece of heaven at Steepleview Farm,” said Marc Carey. “This year we have added the incredible talent of the International Bluegrass Association winner of the Emerging Artist, Songwriter, and Recorded Event Of The Year awards, Becky Buller.”

The Careys are aiming to top the 1000 attendees at last year’s event.

Other musical talent will include:

* Nationally renowned guitar virtuoso Scotty Anderson with a few of his famous friends (including local legend Rick Kinman) for a jam session to start us off at 1 p.m.

* The incredible sound and energy of Kentucky’s own and last year’s concert favorite the amazing NewTown.

Traditional fair food — burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, kettle corn, pit cooked BBQ, homemade apple cider and more — is on the menu.

Enjoy vendor shopping, hay rides, the pumpkin patch, face painting, corn hole and more.

Tickets are $10 Adults in advance, children 12 and under free. On the day of the event, tickets will be $15 at the door.
